Webpage Guide

This WEBPAGE is divided into several sections with coins grouped generally according to time or place of origin. By CLICKING ON a picture, the enlarged picture can be seen and then successive adjacent large pictures can be accessed by clicking on the arrows to the right.

The COIN CODES in the captions are unique to each coin. These consist of two or three letters, plus three digits, e.g., GR001, RE023.

The PHOTOS vary in quality depending on the source of purchase, online or from various sellers  met in shops or on travels. I have used a non-professional camera to photograph coins bought in person or not otherwise professionally prepared. Those photos may be substandard.

The PURCHASE SOURCES of each coin: Where I have purchased coins from established auction houses or numismatic groups like VCoins, I have indicated the source by two or more letters (and the specific auction number if relevant). The list of abbreviations for sellers is attached below.

COINS PURCHASED ON EBay (EB) or from a KNOWN PRIVATE DEALER are so indicated. If an established auction house or dealer sold me the coin on EBay or VCoins, the auction house code or dealer’s name follows the hyphen attached to EB or VC. So, EBay-NN refers to coins bought on EBay from Numismatik Naumann. VC-Dorney refers to a coins sold by a dealer named Dorney through VCoins.

CSU “means coin seller uncertain.” I use this abbreviation if I don’t remember when or where I bought a coin during the past few decades of travel . I rely upon the auction house’s expertise to determine the coin’s authenticity.

The six-digit number that follows the seller’s code represents the DATE of sale [YYMMDD]. So, 170921 is 21 September 2017. Where I do not know for certain the date of sale, I use the abbreviation PDU (purchase date unknown).

All COINS FROM AUCTIONS will include the lot number after the date (Lxxx). So, Coin RE999 Hadrian, Rome 124-134 BN23 120306 L444 was purchased from Bertolami Fine Arts, Auction #23, as Lot 444 on 6 March 2012.

When consigning, I will send the TAG/TAGS that came with each coin for every coin that was sold to me with one.

Of course, if there is confusion about the information on an individual coin or a need to provide more data, please contact me at chukol@yahoo.com or call me at 609-5101343.Always use the coin code (e.g., XYZ999) in referencing a coin.
